Breathing Exercise 

Frustration and sometimes, anxiety are a part of the learning experience students go through at home and at school. When helping students calm down when upset, I explain the benefits of taking deep breathes to give us a moment but to also calm our mind so that we can gather ourselves and make the best choice to solve our problem. Below is a short clip from Headspace that may help reinforcing this exercise.

ADHD Information

It seems as if we as a society are quick to diagnose children with medical conditions without knowing all of the facts. One of the most common labels in education is ADD/ADHD and below is link and short clip to better understand the condition if you feel like your student exhibits some of the behaviors. The resource is filled with info on what steps you can do to help your student if they are diagnosed with ADHD.

Information on Suicide and Youth

The numbers of attempts and suicides by teens and children are increasing at an alarming rate. We can debate about the reasons and what is to blame but the bottom line is that if your child has mentioned or if you suspect self-harm, action is needed to support them in this difficult time of need.
